Dr. Benno Milnitzky of Sao Paulo, was re-elected president of the Jewish Confederation of Brazil at the tenth convention of Brazilian Jewish Federations held last week in Sao Paulo. But for the first time in the history of the representative body of the Brazilian Jewish community, its president was not elected by unanimous vote.
The representatives of the Jewish Federation in Rio de Janeiro voted against him. They demanded a stronger leadership to deal with the communities’ problems in the present situation. The closing season of the convention was also the opening session of the convention of the Brazilian Zionist Organization. Yosef Almogi, chairman of the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency Executives, participated. He is in South America touring Jewish communities.
