A European Jewish group warned Russian President Vladimir Putin not to interfere in the selection of that country’s Jewish leaders. The statement, released by the European Jewish Congress after its meeting in Kiev, Ukraine, came after reports earlier this month that Putin was attempting to topple Russian Chief Rabbi Adolph Shayevich from his post.
