Members of Israel’s governing coalition and the opposition failed to agree on a date for early elections. The nation’s three biggest parties had been discussing May 22 as a possible date. A group of 100 U.S. rabbis said there is nothing in Judaism stating that Jews should have exclusive sovereignty over Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. “As Jewish leaders, we do not want the site of our Holy Temple to be an obstacle to peace,” the Jewish Peace Lobby said in a statement. The rabbis come from the Reform, Reconstructionist and Conservative movements.
