An Israeli soldier was killed in the Gaza Strip last Friday during a gun battle with Palestinians. The soldier was identified as Sgt. Maj. Shigdaf Garmai, 30, a tracker from Lod. Hamas claimed responsibility for the killing, which occurred in the northern part of the Gush Katif settlement bloc.
