Deportation proceedings in Canada against an accused Nazi war criminal were halted. The case is being delayed while a judge determines whether a 2001 vote by the country’s Cabinet stripping Helmut Oberlander of his citizenship violated his constitutional rights. Oberlander, a 79-year-old retired developer who lives in Kitchener, Ontario, was allegedly a former member of a Nazi Einsatzkommando unit that murdered civilians during World War II.
