An Israeli Arab cleric is being investigated for calling for Muslims to rise up against the Jewish state. Sheik Raed Salah, head of Israel’s Islamic Movement, said in a sermon last Friday that Arabs and Muslims should launch “a new intifada” against Israel because of an archaeological dig taking place near Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. Salah has claimed frequently of Jewish plots against the Temple Mount mosques to incite his followers against the Jewish state. Israeli politicians called for Salah to be prosecuted on charges of inciting violence, and Justice Ministry sources said Sunday that the case was under consideration. Salah is considered among the more fiery anti-Zionist Arabs in Israel. He was jailed on a suspicion of funding Palestinian terrorist groups and, more recently, was banned from the Temple Mount after scuffling with Israeli police at the site.
