Uzi Dayan joins Likud

Uzi Dayan, a former Israeli national security adviser turned reformist politician, joined the Likud Party.

Dayan announced his Likud enlistment Monday at a news conference with the party’s leader, former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

A retired general who also headed the National Security Council, Dayan formed the anti-corruption Tafnit Party in 2006 but failed to garner enough votes in elections that year to enter the Knesset.

He will bring the Likud some much-needed military pedigree along with his reputation for clean politics.

Dayan is a nephew of the late Moshe Dayan, the legendary Israeli warrior and statesman.
