Iran launched the production of a submarine capable of firing missiles and torpedoes.

Iranian state television reported that Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Majjar oversaw the opening of the production line at a ceremony Monday.

The new sub, named Ghaem, will join two other submarines built in Iran beginning in 2005. The two subs were delivered recently to the Iranian Navy.
