The world media is filled with Holocaust and anti-Semitism-related stories, timed to coincide with this past weekend’s 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass that signaled the fate of Jews in Europe. But beyond the predictable remembrances are a wide array of cultural offerings that try, through art, to depict the horrors of the time.
Among the offerings:
* A new Holocaust journal published posthumously, recording the he musings of a young Jewish woman in Vichy France who did not survive the war;
* A musical tribute in Denver;
* A new Boston production of The Merchant of Venice, seen through a Jewish lens;
* An essay by the head of the European Jewish Congress, warning that remembering is not enough.
