NEW YORK (JTA) — The widow of real estate mogul Saul Brandman said she was giving $8 million to the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Joyce Brandman announced Aug. 12 that the donation through the university’s American fund-raising arm in New York will go to build a laboratory research center on the Givat Ram campus. The center will focus on the school’s chemistry, biology, physics and pharmacology programs, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Brandman and her late husband have given more than $10 million to the school. They also are major donors in the fight against Crohn’s disease and colitis.

"When everything is liquidated I’ll have about $170 million to give away before my life ends, and it’s my job to make sure this money is placed in the right organizations before I die," Brandman, 67, told The Wall Street Journal.

“I’m worried about the next generation of philanthropists, they’re not doing enough," she added. "Our children need to step into our shoes and continue support for organizations like the Hebrew University."
