(JTA) — The sale of an oil painting by Jewish artist Marc Chagall set an Asian record.
The 1969 painting "Bestiaire et Musique" was auctioned Monday in Hong Kong to an unidentified Asian buyer for $4.18 million.
Twentieth century Western art sells for much more in Europe and the United States.
