NEW YORK (JTA) — A collection containing artifacts from the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Western Wall and more than 500 relics from the pre-Byzantine period is coming to New York.
An exhibit titled “Dead Sea Scrolls: Life and Faith in Biblical Times” will be displayed at Discovery Times Square beginning Oct. 28. The display was created by the Israel Antiquities Authority, which pulled from the collections of the Israel National Treasures.
Twenty scrolls will be on display, which include pieces from the biblical books of Genesis, Psalms, Exodus, Isaiah and others.
The collection will feature some of the oldest known copies of the Hebrew Bible, ancient weapons, stone carvings, artwork and jewelry. The aim of the exhibit is to depict what life was like during the period of history when the Dead Sea Scrolls were written.
In May, the exhibit will travel to The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia for a five-month run.
