Ginnifer Goodwin’s latest project, Once Upon a Time, debuted to better-than-expected ratings last night on ABC. The late fall entrant pulled in especially large numbers in the coveted 18-49 demographic. [EW]
Goodwin, who is best known for her role on HBO’s Big Love, plays Mary Margaret Blanchard in Once Upon a Time. Her character is a teacher in Storybrooke, Maine who is actually also Snow White but doesn’t realize she’s a fairy tale figure trapped in modernity. In fact, all of the characters hail from the stories popularized by the Brothers Grimm and none realize that they are stuck in the wrong era.
The new series comes from Lost writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. It also stars House‘s Jennifer Morrison as another clueless fairytale character.
So is Goodwin’s Snow White/Mary Margaret Blanchard hybrid character Jewish like the actress herself? Pretty unlikely.
But then again, Ms. White does set up shop with seven very short men so I suppose there’s a chance that some Jewish themes will be visited.
