JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Israeli daily newspaper Maariv, which has been in existence since 1948, will cease its print edition during the week and instead will provide only Internet news.
The weekend Maariv edition will be sold on Fridays and holidays, according to the newspaper’s editor. No exact date for the changes has been announced.
The board of Discount Investment Corp., owned by Nochi Danker, who also owns Maariv, on Sunday agreed to put more than $3 million into the daily newspaper.
The Maariv board also ordered the liquidation of the newspaper’s printing house in Bat Yam in a sale expected to take in some $50 million.
