(JTA) — The Jewish school in Toulouse where Muslim extremist Mohammed Merah killed four people last year received death threats from a man who claimed to be Merah’s cousin.

The unidentified person who called the Ohr Hatorah School on Monday told the secretary, “I am going to smoke all of you tonight,” according to a report Tuesday on the French television channel M6.

Police traced the line used for the call to an unnamed woman with a criminal record for theft, M6 reported. An officer was stationed outside the school as a precaution.

Merah gunned down three children and a rabbi in March 2012 before fleeing the scene on a scooter. Days earlier he had killed three French soldiers in two attacks.

He was killed three days after the school attack in a shootout with police who stormed his apartment.

French authorities have arrested and released dozens of people who they suspected of assisting Merah. The only possible suspect who remains in custody is Merah’s older brother, Abdelkader, who is charged with acting as an accessory to murder shortly after the shooting.

His remand was extended by another six months last week as prosecutors prepare for his trial.
