Report: Police have no suspects in Brussels Jewish museum shootings

(JTA) — Belgian police no longer suspect a person whom they detained in connection with the deadly shooting attack at Brussels’ Jewish museum and have no other suspects in custody, a Belgian news site reported.

The person in question, who was detained shortly after Saturday’s shooting, in which three people died, is now regarded by police as a witness and not a suspect, reported the news site, the online edition of the Het Laatste Nieuws daily.

Belgian authorities have not released the names of the three people who died in the museum attack — two women and a man — or the name of a fourth person who sustained critical injuries.

The shooter aimed for the victims’ throats and heads and fired the shots without uttering a word, witnesses told the daily.

Authorities are looking for the shooter and a suspected accomplice who drove the shooter to the museum in an Audi car.

Police are analyzing security camera footage from the scene of the crime in central Brussels and adjacent streets, reported.
