2 Ghaffirs British Officer Slain in New Palestine Violence

Two Jewish supernumeraries were killed and two others wounded today when a tractor which they were operating in the fields near Haifa struck a terrorist-planted land mine. The victims were Daniel Papo and Arieh Givati.

A Jewish physician Dr. Napthali Tauber was shot and seriously wounded by two Arabs while waiting for a bus in the Beit Vegan suburb of Jerusalem.

A British lieutenant was killed and three privates were wounded Friday night in a battle with two Arab terrorist bands trapped by a cordon northwest of Tiberias. Six Arabs were killed in the engagement.

Night patrol squads of Jewish supernumeraries operating in the Southern District and the Shadon Valley have been suspended it was learned today because of Arab accusations that Jews were dynamiting Arab houses in the districts. The motorized patrol which operated between the hours of seven p.m. and five a.m. was considered among the most efficient defensive units against terrorism and relieved the British police.
