A total of 2,500 Jews arrived here today. Most of them came from European DP camps while a group of 70 arrived from Turkey aboard a schooner.
Addressing a meeting of settlers in Givat Brenner today, Israeli President Dr. Chaim Weizmann emphasized that Israel is awaiting large-scale immigration of Jews from all parts of the world who will settle on the land. Land, he asserted, is of paramount importance to the country’s economy and development.
