More than 600 Jews who left here for Palestine by train two weeks ago are stranded in Bulgaria because Turkey has refused to grant them transit visas, it was learned here today.
A committee to aid refugees and speed their emigration to Palestine has been formed here by 62 rabbis from Poland, Hungary and Rumania. The committee will also care for women and children who do not know the whereabouts of their husbands. It is headed by Chief Rabbi Safran.
A traveller who has just returned here from the liberated areas of Poland reports that there are only 150 Jews in Tarnopol, 900 in Lwow, 20 in Przemyal, 120 in Jaroslaw, 120 in Rzeszew, 36 in Krosno and 18 in Zaleszolyji.
