The eight world Zionist unions have called on “every single Jew” in the world to Join in a mass petition project aimed at defeating the resolution equating Zionism with racism when it comes up before the United Nations General Assembly this month. “The striking reply to the anti-Zionist onslaught and the anti-Semitic attack is that every Jew should declare with his head high, ‘I am a Zionist,'” a joint memorandum issued here yesterday said.
The memorandum was signed by the Labor Zionist movement, the World Confederation of United Zionists, the Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamizrachi World Union; Herut, Mapam, the Independent Liberals and WIZO.
The memorandum stated that the condemnation of Zionism by the UN Third Committee strengthens anti-Semitism, places in doubt the right of the State of Israel to exist, and endangers the existence of Jews everywhere.
