A couple from Brooklyn, N.Y., allegedly defrauded some of the largest banks in the United States before fleeing to Israel, according to the New York Post newspaper. Dov and Ayala Engel allegedly made off to Tel Aviv last October with some $80 million when the banks, federal prosecutors and the FBI started closing in on them for falsely inflating the size of their electronics firm to secure bank loans.
