A group of Palestinian intellectuals urged their countrymen not to resort to violence to avenge the killing of Hamas’ founder. “We are on the verge of exploding in pain at the gravity of the disaster,” the 70 signatories, including Palestinian lawmaker Hanan Ashrawi and former Cabinet minister Yasser Abed Rabbo, said in an advertisement published Thursday in the Al-Ayyam newspaper. Hamas declined to comment.
