A mural dedicated to the 11 Israeli athletes slain at the Munich Olympics was unveiled here last week at the YM-YWHA. The Y commissioned Abba Bayefsky, a prominent Canadian muralist and graphic artist, to prepare the mural depicting the spirit of the Olympics and the anguished event of the death of the Jewish athletes. The mural is titled. “Swifter Than Eagles, Stronger Than Lions.” The quotation is from Jewish liturgy where man is encouraged to use his speed and strength in the service of humanity. Ambassador Shmuel Ovnat. Consul General of Israel, represented his country at the ceremonies. Guest speaker was Fred Oberland of Montreal, a member of the Canadian Olympic Committee who was in Munich at the time of the tragedy.
