A Nazi war crimes suspect was wheeled into an Australian court on a stretcher for the beginning of his appeal against extradition to Latvia. The lawyer for 88-year-old Konrad Kalejs said his client suffers from dementia. For years, Kalejs has faced charges of being involved in the wartime slaughter of civilians when he served as an officer in Latvia’s pro-Nazi Arajs Kommando unit.
