A rare copy of Maimonides’ famous rabbinic code, Mishne Torah, was sold for 6000 Pounds Sterling to a private buyer at Sotheby’s auction room this week. It was the most valuable item in a sale of more than 200 important Hebrew books, mainly of the 16th and 17th Centuries, which netted 36,000 Pounds Sterling. Bidders came from all over Europe, Israel as well as Britain for the sale of the collection whose owner remains anonymous.
