An American couple were honored for their efforts to rescue Jews during World War II. Tuesday’s ceremony at Israel’s Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial honored Martha and the Rev. Waitstill Sharp. They’re the only U.S. wartime citizens beside journalist Varian Fry to receive the honor.
