An interreligious effort to promote peace may have helped play a role in the prisoner swap between Israel and Hezbollah. Speaking Saturday at Park East Synagogue in New York, Israel’s chief Ashkenazi rabbi, Yona Metzger, said discussions he had recently with an Iranian religious leader at a conference of Muslim and Jewish leaders in Kazakhstan touched on the prisoner-swap issue.
