An official with Norway’s Foreign Ministry said the Palestinians have a legal right to fire at Israeli soldiers stationed in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, a move that Israel decried as “irresponsible and encouraging violence.” Asked about shooting at Israeli civilians who live in the territories, Deputy Foreign Minister Raymond Johansen reportedly said the issue required further legal clarification. Johansen later told the Jerusalem Post he had been misquoted.
