While anti-Semitic students endeavored to hold their Bukowinian regional conference at the chief monastery of Cupriani, not far from Czernowitz, today, despite the express order of the government forbidding the meeting, gendarmes keeping watch at the nearby railway stations of Strojenit and Bucovetz have received instructions to arrest students heading for the conference and to return them to their homes. The officials of the chief monastery have been ordered not to admit the students.
In the meantime the determination of the ministry of education to carry out literally its threat to expel all students conducting anti-Semitic propaganda was demonstrated today when Ivan Caradac, a high school boy, was arrested while carrying on agitation for the Iron Guard and expelled from school.
Reports that Communists have something to do with the anti-Semitic propaganda were confirmed today by foreign minister Mironescu in an interview with the press. He maintained that anti-Semitism does not appeal to the Roumanian people who are friendly and tolerant.
