Jews in Britain may be faced with a situation where they will have no kosher meat if a bill to amend the present Slaughter of Animals Act is passed by Parliament. The House of Commons yesterday gave R.G. Crouch, Conservative, the right to introduce such a bill, but stipulated that it could not be submitted before April 29, 1955.
Mr. Crouch’s measure would amend the regulations governing slaughter of animals in such fashion as to be unacceptable to the Jewish religious authorities. It is expected that strong representations will be made against the bill by the Jewish community.
