Arabs, Israeli Hurt by Gunfire

Two Arabs and an Israeli soldier were lightly wounded by gunfire Sunday in Bethlehem, amid conflicting reports over the cause of the incident.

Israel Television reported that the Arabs had stoned an undercover Israel Defense Force unit near the Church of the Nativity. The troops opened fire, wounding two Arabs and a soldier, all of whom were caught in the middle.

According to another version, an Arab had tried to grab a soldier’s weapon in Manager Square. In the ensuing struggle, the gun went off.

The IDF was investigating the incident.
