Salzburg police announced the arrest today of Johann and Wilhelm Mauer, brothers charged with participating in the mass murders of Jews in the Polish town of Stanislaw, during World War II.
The brothers worked under assumed names after the war in a Protestant relief organization. In that capacity, they had met with representatives of Jewish relief organizations, according to the police. They remained free, police said, because the search warrant for them listed them as “Maurer.”
