Baroness Jenny Tonge issued a conditional apology to colleagues “and to Jewish people all over the country who may have misunderstood my remarks.” Tonge, a member of England’s Liberal Democrat Party, became embroiled in an anti-Semitism controversy after she referred, during her party’s conference in September, to the “financial grips the pro-Israeli lobby has on the Western world.”
