A Black nationalist coalition calling itself “The Republic of New Africa” has cited West German reparations to Jews as a precedent justifying a claim for $200 billion in restitution payments to United States Negroes. Brother Imari, who says his “slave name” is Richard B. Henry, is “Minister of Information” of the “Republic.” He told a press conference here that the “Republic’s demand for $10,000 in reparations to each Negro was well-established in international law” by the Jewish precedent. He said that Negroes were exploited as slave laborers and transported about in captivity in tactics similar to Nazi exploitation and deportation of Jews.”
