Brazilian General to Head U. N. Force on Israel-egyptian Frontier

General of the Army Oswaldo de Arujo Motta of Brazil was appointed commander of the United Nations Emergency Force today, succeeding Lt. Gen. P. S. Gyani of India. Secretary-General U Thant, in announcing the appointment, said that the Brazilian officer would take over the UNEF command about the middle of next month. Gen. Gyani is retiring from the post after serving four years as commander of the UN police force stationed on Israel’s border at the Gaza Strip and at Sharm el Sheik overlooking the Akaba Gulf.
