A lump settlement of all claims to heirless Jewish property in the state of Bremen was reached during the week-end when state officials and representatives of the Jewish Restitution Successor Organization signed an agreement under which the heirless property was surrendered to the government for 1,750,000 deutschemarks (about $400,000).
The agreement had been approved by the Bremen Parliament and Senate. Excluded from the agreement were Jewish religious institutions and religious objects and art objects recovered by the occupation authorities and held by them at Wiesbaden.
