Parliament today heard Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Christopher Mayhew declare that under the present circumstances there is no change in Britain’s attitude towards the question of recognizing the state of Israel.
Replying to a question by William McAdam, Laborite, who also urged the British Government to consider consulting with the United States with a view towards extending de jure recognition to Israel by both governments, Mayhew said that although both governments were in constant communication on the question, he could not make such an assurance.
