For the sixth time the year-old Bronstein torture trial has been postponed, but this time a date for the hearing was fixed for October 4.
Samson Bronstein was arrested in May 1932, on charges of being identified with communist activities. The charges proved groundless. But during his examination he was subjected to six hours of torture that sent him to a hospital for several months. It was feared that he would never be able to walk again. He has, however, recovered.
The three gendarmes and Captain Panisoara who are accused of cruelly torturing Bronstein have so far pleaded not guilty.
