Bulgaria’s Jewish community appealed a court decision that rejected its claims to nearly half of the property now occupied by a Sofia hotel. “We emphasize again that we are seeking no more than a fair and objective application of the rule of law in the Rila Hotel matter and, ultimately, for justice to be done,” Emil Kalo, president of Shalom, the umbrella organization of Bulgarian Jewry, said in a statement released over the weekend.
