Degrees, diplomas and commissions will be conferred on a record class of more than 2,000 graduates at the eighty-eighth commencement exercises of City College in the Lewisohn Stadium Wednesday evening. Candidates will be presented by Deans Morton Gottschall, Frederick Skene, Paul Klapper, Justin H. Moore, Professor George M. Brett and Colonel George Chase Lewis.
This week the graduating class will celebrate senior week with a number of social and academic functions which includes a “fare-well dance,” and “class night” exercises.
On commencement day the Class of 1903, headed by Dr. Gabriel R. Mason, principal of Abraham Lincoln High School, will dedicate a Houdon bust of Benjamin Franklin, to be added to the collection in the Hall of Patriots. The regular exercises will start at 8:30 with an academic procession of the graduates, alumni, faculty and guests.
The class marshals for the first division will be led by Harry Weinstein, February ’34 and Herman Redisch, June ’34. George J. Bischoff will lead the third division which will consist of students graduated more than fifty years ago.
The senior week committee, as announced by Herman Redisch, class president, includes Sigmund Dreilinger, chairman; Herbert Weisberg, Harry Nachmias, Leonard Silverman, David Lederman and Bernard Schwartzberg.
