Chechnya’s assassinated president sought Jewish help last year in monitoring his election. During a visit to the United States last September, Akhmad Kadyrov, who was killed Sunday by a bomb in the Chechen capital, met with Rabbi Marc Schneier, president of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, to ask for a delegation of three or four “Jewish leaders” to monitor October elections in his country.
