The “Katholiek Bureau voor Israel,” a Catholic organization devoted to fighting anti-Semitism, has been ordered by van Cauwelaert, assistant to Cardinal van Roey, the Archbishop of Mechelen, head of the Catholic Church in Belgium, to discontinue its activities. The order followed the breaking up by anti-Semites of a lecture of the French Catholic writer, Oscar Deferenzie. Catholic leaders are apparently unwilling to antagonize the anti-Semites in view of the forthcoming municipal elections.
