Citing budget constraints, the umbrella group of North American Jewish federations will close its university programs division. “We are reducing our budget in recognition of the financial demands on our member federations,” United Jewish Communities CEO Stephen Hoffman said. “In examining our budget, we looked at our menu of services and made the decision to withdraw services where there were other options available to federations from within the Jewish community.”
