Brandeis University today announced the receipt of a $250,000 grant to finance a special program under which distinguished artists will be invited to live at the university for a semester. The grant was made by Maurice Saltzman, a prominent Cleveland manufacturer, his wife and the Saltzman Foundation. They will underwrite the residence of the artists who will teach and conduct regular criticism sessions for advanced students of art.
Mr. Saltzman, through the Saltzman Foundation established by him and his wife, has been a major contributor to colleges throughout the country including the University of Notre Dame, Western Reserve University, Harvard, Case Institute of Technology and Brandeis. He has served in many capacities with Cleveland’s United Appeal, Jewish Community Federation and other civic and welfare organizations. He was born in Cleveland.
