The Commonwealth Party conference meeting here, today called for abrogation of the White Paper immigration restrictions in Palestine and urged establishment of a Jewish state there in accordance with the mandate. The recommendations were contained in a report on international affairs adopted by the delegates.
The report originally contained an additional section on Palestine, suggesting that the country be partitioned. This was struck out after a debate during which speakers pointed out the war contribution of the Jews of Palestine and the benefits derived by the Arab peasantry from Jewish immigration. Tom Wintringham, prominent journalist and military analyst, on behalf of the national executive committee of the party, accepted an amendment eliminating the partition proposal.
