A delegation of Congressmen who are members of the Committee for a Jewish Army will appear early next week before Secretary of State Cordell Hull to ask that the United States impress upon the British Government the necessity of forming a Jewish Army in Palestine in view of the present military situation in the Near East, it was learned here today.
The delegation will also seek to approach President Roosevelt on the same subject, it was stated. Simultaneously, efforts will be made to bring before the Foreign Affairs Committee the resolution of Representative Andrew Somers of New York, which was presented to Congress some time ago, directing the President to inform the British Government, through the State Department, that the United States considers the establishment of a Jewish Army in Palestine essential.
The danger of a Nazi attack on Palestine by parachute troops reported to be massing on Crete, was emphasized here last night by Dr. Alexander Hadani of Palestine, addressing a dinner given by Representative Somers at the Hotel Willard and attended by a number of Congressmen.
