Damage and loss in excess of $250,000 was sustained by the National Jewish Hospital when more than 3,000,000 gallons of water and mud flooded the kitchen, store rooms, tunnels and other installations at this B’nai B’rith philanthropy in a recent Denver cloudburst, it was established here today.
Although hardest hit of any place in the city, the hospital was able to maintain uninterrupted service to its 280 patients, including 50 children. This was achieved by speedy adaptation to the emergency conditions and with the cooperation of governmental agencies and volunteering citizens. The flood resulted from failure of a nearby sewer to accept the enormous quantity of water produced by the violent storm.
