Dr. Bernard Revel, president of the faculty of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and the Yeshiva College, was elected president of the Board of Education, recently created at a conference of Jewish educators of New York City, called for the purpose of organizing the forces of orthodox Jewry who are fostering a maximum program in the Jewish religious schools. The conference came into being on the initiative of the Yeshiva College authorities.
Rabbi M. S. Margolies and B. Hirsh were chosen vice-presidents; Dr. P. Churgin, principal of the Teachers’ Institute of the Yeshiva College, chairman of the executive board; I. Z. Fishberg, treasurer and Professor I. Ginsburg, secretary. Other members of the board are: Dr. Simon Ginsburg, Hebrew poet and educator; M. Fuerst, I. Konovitz and A. Sawer.
The Board of Hebrew Education, at a meeting held last week at the Yeshiva College, decided to call a conference of Jewish communal leaders, active in the field of Jewish education, to be held early in the Fall.
