Dr. Abram Kanof was re-elected president of the American Jewish Historical Society at the society’s 70th anniversary meeting at the American Philosophical Society held here. Elected to vice-presidencies were Supreme Court Justice Edgar J. Nathan, Jr., of New York and Philip D. Sang of Chicago, communal leader. Harry Starr, of New York was elected treasurer.
The society, which fosters the study of the role of the Jew in the settlement and development of America, received special commendation from the Civil War Centennial Commission at its annual meeting. On behalf of the commission, Dr. James I. Robertson, Jr., executive director, presented a Certificate of Achievement to the Civil War Centennial Jewish Historical Society Commission.
