Drought Causes Failure of Harvest in Crimean Jewish Colonies, Causing Serious Condition

It is learned here that the harvest has failed in the whole of the Crimean District, owing to a severe drought. Among the colonies which are suffering in consequents are the Jewish colonies of Tel-Hai and Hamashmeir. The colonists have petitioned the Ukrainian Agricultural Relief Committee for assistance, but it is

feared there is little hope of help from that quarter because there are no funds at the disposal of the Committee. The closing down of the Jewish aid organizations, the Joint Distribution Committee and the ORt, it is felt in the colonies, has made the situation catastrophic.
